It's better to buy a House than a Condo

What a revelation.

It's good that my main house is a single family home. I also have condominiums but I use them for rental purposes.

I was even planning to buy a condo so that I can transfer from my existing house.

The reason for buying a single family home is that you don't have to pay fees. In condo, fees only goes up and up.

I had a shoot today around 6pm. Chase Aganan sent me some of his talents for their folio shoot. My folio shoot is only 1,000 pesos only and it includes 50 shots. You will get 10 edited shots and you will also be part of my fashion show this March.

I don't have a clock inside the studio so sometimes when I'm so engrossed, I never knew that it's already late already. It's a blessing that there is a 24 hours Mcdonalds which is right beside my studio at 30 ESNA Building in Timog Avenue. With me are the talents of Chase. We had fun chatting and just bumming around before we went back to the studio to finish our shoot. There were still 2 models that I need to do a model portfolio.

Thank GOD for Mcdonalds.

The Actor to Watch Nick Krause

Nick Krause plays the boyfriend of one of George Clooney's daughters in the movie, The Descendants.

In one of his interview, he was asked what scene were you most proud of acting in the movie?

He replied that it was during the scene at the hotel between Sid - his character and with Matt King (George Clooney). I particularly remember this scene where Matt King asked where are the parents of Sid. Sid replied that his mom was always busy and his dad had died already. Died because of his drunk driving. Sid came to be a jackass in the beginning and Matt thought that Sid is a spoiled brat. Little did he know that this young kid has also problems of his own that he is dealing with.

It shows the humanity of the characters in the movie. All of us have our secrets and our problems.

I hope you watch the movie.

Tearjerker The Descendants

I really made a point today to watch the movie, The Descendants. George Clooney is up for the best actor award for the Oscars. I usually make a point to watch all the Oscar nominated movies so that when I get to watch the award shows, then I can relate.

The movie is simple. It shows what is the real America. It's like the movie the Fighter, which was also Oscar nominated years back.

The movie descendants also shows how a real family deals with hardships. I particularly liked the saying in the movie that you should give your children some money to do something rather than give money for them to do nothing. It really stuck on my mind. The infidelity of his wife being a bored housewife also contributed to the conflict of the movie.

I highly recommend you to watch this movie. Bring a lot of Kleenex.

Exhilirating Dragonfly Ride at Timezone Trinoma

Dragonfly is the newest ride attraction at Timezone Trinoma. It cost 35 pesos each regardless of age. It's the newest addiction of my kids and they always ask for it when we go to Trinoma. They can go ten rounds without feeling nauseated.

I think the feeling of flying and the air that is brushing your face and hair, it feels good I think.

Try it out if you're not chicken like me.

Found my Inspiration

I have been thinking on the direction on my design for my clothes. Sometimes, with too much distraction from television and magazines, I sometimes tend to follow what I see. My brother is more of a fashion designer. He has very strong sense of style. He always tell me to always follow what I feel.

After seeing this Bryanboy video showing his rack of wardrobe, I got inspired to really do what I want to do. It's better not to listen to outside forces but rather listen to what is in your heart. I love, love prints so I'm just waiting for my next budget so I can produce my collections for March. I also like fur. I found this nice fur fabric and I'm thinking on how to incorporate it on my design.

Photography and this fashion design this is just a hobby of mine. The fashion design, I will enroll myself on the men's pattern class this February at FIP - Fashion Institute of the Philippines. Life is a continuous journey. You have to learn new things. I'm just happy that I can afford these luxury of doing what I want.

Working with the Sweet Paulina

Photography is a hobby of mine that gives me relaxation. When Paulina confirmed that she wants to have an updated folio, I happily obliged. She is a friend of my make up artist and that's how we got to work with each other. Photographing women takes a long time since you need to do the hair and the make up. It takes about 1 hour and a half.

After the long wait, Paulina transformed into this very tall gorgeous lady. She has done several print and modeling work already. She has done the Philippine fashion week several times too.

Working with a seasoned female model is a breeze. She already knows how to pose and all you have to do is just click, click and click away.

We did about 5 layouts. It was fun, really fun.

She is off to China to pursue her modeling career. I'm wishing all the best for her.

What is Negative Space as explained by IMag Photography Magazine

Photography is always a continuing education. You really have to enjoy what your doing. For me, I buy all the photography related magazines. I found these two publications useful, the local Digital Photography edition and this Imag Photography magazine.

In this issue of Imag photography magazine, it tackles the subject of negative space. Actually I don't know what this means. Negative space is the area that fills up the rest of the frame, usually a solid background color. The article helps you achieve on using negative space on your photographs.

Although I studied under 2 photography teachers, nothing can really beat if you go out and shoot. It's just like driving or cooking, if you don't do it everyday, then you will never learn.

Jake Cuenca in Modelos Magazine

I'm a lover of magazines. I usually buy new publications since I like to support it. They need sales so they can still produce more issues. It's just a little way of helping the publishing industry. Aside from that, I still like viewing pictures on paper rather than on a computer.

It's my first time to buy this magazine. I bought this magazine because of the following reasons :

1. It's also my wish to have this kind of magazine but as you all know, magazines are really expensive. For now, I'm still saving up to produce this kind of endeavor.

2. The cover is Jake Cuenca and the lighting of Jake Cuenca is the same as my style. These are the kind of pictures that I like. I'm not into plain all white pictures. I want some shadows and colors. It makes the picture pop out.

3. It's affordable. Only 125 pesos.

The magazine features aspiring models. The write ups are also good. The magazine also features a small biography of Doc Marlon. It's nice to read more of the photographer rather than on the model which is usually the case.

Modelos Magazine is still available at National Bookstore. I bought it at National Bookstore, Quezon Avenue.

My Valentine's Date for 2012

As a single parent, my Valentines date of course will be my kids. We celebrated it at Jollibee Tomas Morato.

My Brother's Birthday

It's my brother's 41'st birthday today. My kids did not go to school since it's their uncle's birthday. Laura and my brother Tony, went to Red Ribbon to buy the chocolate cake. After that we went to the mall to catch a movie, the Vow. I placed Dylan at the playground. We catched the 1.25 pm show.

After the movie, we went home already since Tony are expecting guests at home. We passed by the Fully Booked store where Laura and Dylan bought their books, as usual.

Rica came around 5pm. The first one to attend the party. She was wearing an ice blue pleated dress. Very sosyalera as always. Laura and Dylan had a great time spending time with her. Next to arrive was our student Analyn with her baby boy. Now, Dylan and Laura had a playmate. They played and played.

Ate Mabel and Mahtab also came around 7pm. By that time, Rica already left since she has to sleep by 9am.

The party ended around 12 midnight and Laura is still watching television. It's already 1.30 am.

Behind the Scenes with Mio

Mio is a model who is easy to direct. He's very conscious of his physique and I think he has zero body fat. He is from Adamson University. Still a sophomore, I think. Wait for his pictures to come out.

He's perfect for a muscle model.

Watched Journey 2 with Laura

Had a rest day today. Miriam has no class this Thursday and Friday. Miriam loves to have no classes. I love it too. I get to spend time with my kids. We just stayed at home the whole day then we went to the mall around 6pm to watch a movie. I sent Dylan to the playground and Laura and my brother Tony, went to watch the Journey 2. It's a very nice movie. Movie for the kids indeed.

Typical Disney movie. Suspenseful but nobody dies. Just like in the cartoons.

Went home around 10pm. A very relaxed day.

Working with your favorite Muse

I had a chance to work again with Cuy. I worked with her when she was only 15. She was just in high school. She called me up but I did not bother to answer it since I had a full schedule today. I usually cannot say no to this lady. Anyway, when I arrived at the studio, she was there. I was happy to see her. Eventually I told her if she could wait so I could finish my schedule shoot for the night. She happily agreed and she enjoyed chatting with Ken while I was finishing the catalogue shoot for my underwear line.

Arwin also visited. One of my potential sponsors for the show. He owns a hotel in Boracay and would like to have a tie up with me so he could promote his hotel. I told him ok. I like Boracay and it would be fun to have some tie ups with hotels.

Cuy's shoot is as usual very light. She has a very pretty face that I don't even need to worry on where to get her good angle. Every angle is just perfect.
